Dual Monitors
One of my long time dreams for my law office running Linux, was to use dual monitors. So, I spent much of this weekend trying to make two monitors work with Linux. As it turns out, Linux has a harder time easily supporting dual monitors than wifi.
Today, my desktop is only running one monitor. That's right, I gave up.... for now. Here's what I learned:
- Use a newer NVIDIA card. NVIDIA supports Linux, so it usually works well with Linux, BUT older NVIDIA cards don't seem to be supported as well as the newer ones.
- Use common monitors. The best way to determine this is check and see if your monitor is in the display "monitor list" for the distribution you plan on using.
- It appears that Fedora gives the best support to dual monitors. However, I couldn't get it to run the two monitors the way I needed them to run, but it seemed to want to support them.
